While the field of global studies is relatively new, its roots trace to ancient trade routes, human migrations and maritime explorations. Humans have always been connected, but never more so than today.
This ever-expanding, interconnected world has created a growing demand for problem-solving skills, critical analyses and interdisciplinary solutions to complex challenges. As an academic field, Global Studies has risen along with globalization, as the latter has increasingly and profoundly affected every element of our lives, from trade and economics to industry and technology, from health and human rights to global security and the environment.
UNL’s Global Studies undergraduate program aims to create informed, respectful international citizens who are equipped to tackle pressing, global challenges such as weapons of mass destruction, viral and communicable diseases, fair trade, resource management and cross-border diplomacy.
